Displaying PowerPoint content
Displaying a PowerPoint presentation within your event is possible by using one of the following methods:
Upload a presentation
This method is best for standard presentations.
Screen sharing
This method is best for complex presentations with animations and lots of slide builds where the Presenter is controlling the PowerPoint.
Invite a Presenter and have them share their screen whilst displaying their PowerPoint presentation. There are multiple sharing options based on the Presenter's screen layout.
Dual monitor (recommended)
Use this method when the Presenter has two monitors connected to their computer.
Opens the Joinin Presenter Hub on screen 1
- Open the PowerPoint presentation
- Click the Slide Show tab then Set Up Slide Show
- Under 'Show type' selected "Browsed at a Kiosk (full screen)". This will ensure the presentation only opens on 1 screen. The PowerPoint 'presenter view' will not open in this mode.
- Click Share Screen in the Joinin Presenter Hub
- Select your monitor and click Share.
- While sharing your screen, switch PowerPoint to slide show mode by clicking the Slide Show tab > From Beginning or From Current Slide.
Single monitor - slide show view in a window
Use this method when the Presenter has one monitor connected to their computer.
- Opens the Joinin Presenter Hub
- Open the PowerPoint presentation
- Click the Slide Show tab then Set Up Slide Show
- Under 'Show type' selected "Browsed by an individual (window)". This will ensure the presentation opens in a window on the screen. The PowerPoint 'presenter view' will not open in this mode.
- Start the PowerPoint show by clicking the Slide Show tab > From Beginning or From Current Slide.
- Click Share Screen in the Joinin Presenter Hub
- Select the PowerPoint window and click Share.
Single monitor - slide show in full screen
Use this method to share the entire monitor view. This will limit access to Presenter Hub controls as they will be 'hidden' behind the PowerPoint presentation and this method is therefore not recommended if you do not know the shortcuts to switch between apps.
- Open the PowerPoint file you want to present.
- Log in to the Joinin Presenter Hub
- Click Share Screen in the Joinin Presenter Hub
- Select your monitor and click Share.
- While sharing your screen, switch PowerPoint to slide show mode by clicking the Slide Show tab > From Beginning or From Current Slide.
External Stream
This method is best for complex presentations where the operator is controlling the PowerPoint.
Open your PowerPoint presentation on a computer and stream a capture of the computer screen to Joinin using an
External Stream. We recommending using OBS to screen capture and stream.
