A scene is a snapshot of the current Studio state.
Using scenes
Scenes can be used to assist operators in two primary ways.
1. Program a linear event
A scripted show can be programmed in full during Rehearsal so operation is simplified when Live. For example:
- Scene 1: Pre-show countdown
- Scene 2: Welcome video
- Scene 3: Host introduction
- Scene 4: Supplier panel (4 presenters)
- Scene 5: Outro video
- Scene 6: Thank you slide
2. Create shortcuts
For non-linear or free-flowing events you can use Scenes to create shortcuts between different 'looks'. For example:
- Presenter panel
- Holding logo
- PowerPoint
Creating a scene
Scenes can be stored at any time whilst your event is in Rehearsal or Live.
What is stored
- All active sources
- Source volume (where applicable)
- Source loop state (where applicable)
- Source
- Latched audio
- Overlay media
- Background media
- Fallback media
- 'Up Next' display including any Layout.
What is not stored
- Media seek position
Save scene
- Open the 'Sources' side panel
- Click 'Save scene'
- Add a name for your scene
- Add an optional keyboard shortcut for your scene
- Click 'save'
Recalling a scene
Scenes are recalled to the 'Up Next' display allowing you to preview the scene before switching it On Air.
Description
Before recalling a scene you can see a list of all sources in the scene and all sources currently in the Studio. You can see what will be added, removed or modified when recalling the scene.
Adding sources
When a source will be added to your Studio you will see an "Add" indicator.
Removing sources
When a source will be removed from your Studio you will see an "Remove" indicator.
Warnings
A warning is shown whenever recalling a selected scene would alter the On Air video/audio in any way. This includes:
- Changing the background media
- Changing the fallback media
- Removing a source that is currently On Air
- Adding or removing any latched audio sources
- Adding or removing the overlay media
Volume for an On Air source will not be changed when recalling a scene. This is to prevent sudden and unwanted volume changes.
Rename
Scene names can be changed at any time.
Delete
Scenes can be deleted at any time. Deleting a scene does not delete any of the underlying sources.
Override/update
Scenes can be overridden with the current state of the Studio. This is useful if you make a change to a scene and need to store that change.
Keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts can be used to quickly recall a scene and speed up operation.
Using keyboard shortcuts
Recall a scene using the 'ALT' or 'OPTION' key and the shortcut. For example if you save a scene with "P" as the shortcut key you can recall this scene by pressing 'ALT' and 'P' together.
The scene will immediately be recalled to your Up Next display unless if there are no warnings.
Warnings
If your scene recall shortcut triggers a warning (see warnings) the scene will not be automatically recalled. Instead the scene and warning will open in the side panel for review. Using the same keyboard shortcut whilst the warning is displayed will override the warning and recall the scene immediately.
To recall a scene and ignore the warning use the keyboard shortcut twice in a row.
Default shortcuts
Default shortcuts exists to move to the NEXT or PREVIOUS scene in relation to the last used scene.
- ALT + Right arrow = Next scene
- ALT + Left arrow = Previous scene
If there is no 'Last used' scene the NEXT shortcut will recall the first scene in your Scenes list.
Add custom shortcut
Custom shortcuts can be added when initially saving the scene or at any time via the dropdown menu "Add keyboard shortcut" option.
Shortcuts must be unique (you cannot have two of the same) and can be any single key between A-Z or 0-9.
Delete keyboard shortcut
Keyboard shortcuts can be deleted via the dropdown menu "Remove keyboard shortcut" option.
